How to Get a Storage Shed off the Ground
As soon as you have made the choice to put a storage shed on your property you are going to have a lot of planning to do. You are going to have to select what kind of storage shed that you are going to put on your property and what you plan on storing in it. You are going to want to decide where you are going to place the storage shed on your property and most importantly you are going to what to decide how you are going to get your storage shed off the ground. There are many reasons that home owners would want to raise their shed off the ground. Two of the top reasons are; to prevent wild animals from getting into their shed and to prevent damage from the elements. So how do you get your storage shed off the ground?
The first option to get a storage shed off the ground is using wood. Wood is relatively inexpensive and you can treat it to be able to withstand whatever the elements throw its way. You can have the wooden plank that you construct sit right on the ground or you can choose to sink the plank partway into the ground. Then you can construct or place your storage shed on the wooden base and help anchor it further with metal brackets.
Another choice to get your storage shed off the ground is by using cement cinder blocks. This method may be a little more expensive if you choose to purchase the cinder blocks or you could choose to visit some construction sights and ask if there are any blocks that they wouldn’t mind you taking off their hands. Be sure that you are placing the cinder blocks on a level area and that you are placing them so the holes are not facing upwards. This way no small creatures will be trying to dig their way into your storage shed. This choice is best for relatively small sheds.
A third choice is pouring a cement slab. This can be a little expensive but is very effective. You can choose to sink the shed part way into the slab before it is fully set. You can also choose to sink some wooden planks into the cement before it is totally set and then anchor the shed to the slab with metal brackets.
These are just three ways to get an outdoor shed off the ground. Be sure to take into account how much money you have to spend for this project so that you will not over extend yourself money wise. It will also help you narrow down the options that are going to work the best to get the storage shed off the ground.
