Collectibles - Pepsi Vending Machines For Interior Decorating

by Daniel Wright

Gathering collectibles from the past is a popular hobby and also a profitable business for many people. Many collect memorabilia related to popular brands of carbonated beverages like vintage soda bottles from Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and many other soft drink makers and even vending machines.

There is a renewed interest in collecting vending machines. The earliest machines were simple self-service containers which had a cup to collect coins. Soon, automated machines appeared. You deposited a nickel in a slot, and a bottle dropped to you. When machines were introduced that had the capability of making change, it was a major breakthrough.

Often times it can be hard to locate a true Pepsi vending machine because of their relative rarity. Pepsi's bottles were larger than their competitor's, and therefore didn't fit in other vending machines. The company did not really manufacture that many custom machine for their oversize bottles.

This forced the vending machine makers to make different machines for different bottles and this caused an increase in costs. It is very difficult to find a Pepsi machine because few were made and even fewer survived. Since Pepsi management was focused on low cost, they didn't jump at the opportunities regarding vending machines for their bottles.

Next was the emergence of electronic machines which have a small computer and collects sales and other data. These machines will become collectibles in the future. Perhaps in the future you will even be able to find a machine that dispenses soda by swiping a card. Other machine models dispense cans, and some even the modern 20 ounce size unbreakable bottles. These later models are not considered to be collectibles presently, but some people purchase these as part of their entertainment area decor.

One of the most popular items among collectors is the rare machine which dispensed directly into a fountain style cup. The older models were quite small and fit easily on a counter or a table. They make not take up a lot of room, but collectors are more than willing to give up the space for them.

Soda-Pop-Collectibles.com features antique Coke and Pepsi vending machines, as well as hundreds of Coca-Cola Pepsi, Mountain Dew, 7UP, and other soft drink memorabilia. Vintage soda pop collectibles added every day!
