Rubbermaid Big Max Sheds

Is your garage overrun with the kids bikes, skateboards, and toys? Does your car sit outside in the sun because the grill, lawnmower, and snow blower are in the way? If so then maybe you could use the extra space that a Rubbermaid Big Max Shed offers.

The Rubbermaid Big Max Shed can be found at most local Home Depot's. A 7x7 foot shed runs around 500 dollars. If you need a bit more room there is also an expansion pack for an additional 250 dollars which is a good idea if your planning on putting up shelves in your shed.

The Rubbermaid Big Max Shed is made of heavy duty plastic and the manufacturer claims that it wont rust, shed, or ever need painting. The color of the walls are a beige color with a green roof. If you live in an area that has snowy winters you will be glad to know that the roof is pitched, a must for heavy winters. There are two front doors that open outward and have a hasp for a lock. The lock is not included.

The shed does need assembling requiring some experience with tools. Fortunately it does come with good instructions with plenty of pictures to guide you through the process.  Among the tools required to build the shed is two step stools. You might as well forget that and grab a six foot latter as you will need one before your finished. You will also need a friends help as this is definitely a two man job.

Before you run out to buy the Rubbermaid Big Max Shed you should know that for best results you will need a foundation for it before assembling. Of course you can choose to build on the ground, however, if you do make sure that the ground is level. If you fail to level the ground you may end up with a shed that is unaligned.

The manufacturer boasts that assembly takes only 60 minutes but even with two men it takes more time. The shed does however go together fairly easily if it is assembled on level ground. The walls, roof, and doors are all made from a heavy duty plastic. Most of the hardware is made of metal with the exception of the wall connectors and door hinges, these are made of heavy duty plastic. The floor is made of a solid durable foam.

The floors have four pieces that snap and screw together. Once you have finished this you simply snap and slide the sides into place. It becomes a bit tricky once you start placing the gables. These have air vents that help to prevent the inside of the shed from getting too hot during warm weather. The hardest part of assembling the Rubbermaid Big Max Shed is getting the roof to snap into the gable ends.

The Rubbermaid Big Max Shed is a great way to reclaim an over crowded garage or even just create a great workplace. There aren't to many drawbacks to this sturdy shed if I had to name one it would be that it is difficult to assemble alone.

Are you sure you followed the directions for assembly. You may want to go back and double check everything.

I am looking for a replacement part for the rubbermaid Big Max 7×7 storage bldg/host #545-677. The latch that closes the shed has broken. Can you supply me with a new manual or the replacement part number.?

Karen, the best place to get that information is Rubbermaid itself. Here is a page that tells you how to contact them: http://www.rubbermaid.com/supportCenter/Pages/ContactInformationForm.aspx?ContId=45&Id=1
