Make Your Shed a Playhouse

If you want to try something new and interesting with your shed or do something nice for the kids, you might turn it into a playhouse. This can be done best with wooden storage sheds but any shed will do with the right creativity.

What kid doesn’t want their own playhouse? When you think about it, this is one of the most popular and most requested things from any child growing up. If you can’t afford one of those fabulous playhouses you see on TV or in the magazines but you want to find a special alternative for your children, consider a shed playhouse.

You can either transform an existing shed or you can purchase a shed just for this purpose. If you do the former, it’s very important that you clean the shed properly. You need to be sure you can fully remove anything that might be dangerous to children playing.

If you do the latter, you will not have to worry so much about anything that was in the shed before, only about getting the right size and style for your needs and getting it all set up for your child or children. Either way you go, you might decide to make a family event out of this.

Everyone can work together to help make the shed a playhouse and it will be a fun family bonding experience while also giving the children a chance to have a say and to be hands-on with their future playhouse.

Once you have decided what you’re going to do, you will need to have a plan. Your plan should include things such as a complete materials list for your project, step by step instructions to how you will complete this project, design illustrations and more. If there is a theme to the playhouse, you’ll want to know it ahead of time so you can plan accordingly.

To make a nice little place to get away from it all, set a chaise lounge inside with some comfy pillows and blankets all around. Add some candles and soothing music and you have a place to escape when you’re feeling overwhelmed and need a break.

These sheds also make for a nice home office. Set up a desk, some chairs and your filing cabinet and you have a nice quiet place to work. Setting up an office outside the house is also a great way to keep work separate from your home life. If you’re a work at home mom or dad, having your own work space can help you focus more and be more productive. It won’t be so tempting to stop and do the dishes or laundry.

A playhouse for your children

As a child growing up I always wanted a cute little playhouse in my yard. My friends had one that looked very similar to these and we used to play in there all the time, whether it was raining or hot and sunny. It served as a great place to get out of the heat. We had a play kitchen, a table and some chairs and her parents let us put an old couch in there. It was great. Your kids will love it too. Not to mention that when they’ve out grown the playhouse, you can use it as a storage shed, and office or a getaway.

Sheds aren’t what they used to be anymore, that’s for sure. Before running any sort of electrical line, check with an electrician. Also always use safety measures whenever using any electrical devices such as lamps, fans or heaters.
